The Race for Education is today. Please see below for class run times - everyone is welcome to come watch! Thank you to those who are able to volunteer at the event. Please read to the end! We have lots of upcoming events as the end of the school year gets closer.
Race for Education Fundraiser - Today - May 2
The Race for Education is today. If it rains, it will be held in the gym. We would love to see you there. Race times are noted below. Please share those links! Send any monetary donations into the school labeled for the PTO and RFE.
K, 1st and 2nd grades at 1:05 pm - 1:35 pm
5th and 6th grades at 1:40 pm - 2:10 pm
3rd and 4th grades at 2:20 pm - 2:50 pm

The McKinley Garden - Order Your Plants
Families should have received order forms to order plants for pick-up for your home gardens. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions - and if you would like a plant but don't see it on the order form, please let us know and we may be able to track it down for you! Mother’s Day Plant Sale - Thursday, May 9
Please see the flyer below for information on the one-day Mother's Day Plant Sale.
Volunteers are needed throughout the school day to help with the sale. One-hour shifts are available from 9:00am through 4:00pm. Please use the link below to sign-up.
McKinley Talent Show
Parents - YouTube versions of songs will not work during the Talent show. Please ensure that if your child is singing a song, they must practice and learn all words by dress rehearsal. They must use the karaoke version of their song at dress rehearsal/shows. Please, if your child is not using the first 2 minutes of a song, please send in a cut version of the song or songs ASAP. Please volunteer for dress rehearsals and shows (sign up email coming soon) for the following jobs: Sign in, crowd control and dismissal May 7th (dress rehearsal - 6 pm dismissal) All music must be submitted in Mp3 file format. If you have questions, please email Marissa at marissa.capizzi@gmail.com. Please continue to encourage your children to practice at home.
Please inform all participants in the Talent Show that NO electronic devices are permitted during rehearsals and shows. Children can ONLY use phones to call parents after rehearsal has ended. This includes iPods and headphones. Devices must be stored in backpacks off stage. Please pack an extra snack for your child on rehearsal/show days. All acts and emcees must rehearse at dress rehearsal on May 7th. There will be 2 shows on Friday, May 10th- the day performance is at 1:30pm and the evening performance is at 6:30pm.
Teacher Luncheon Donations - Tuesday, May 14
Plese see the attached flyer for information on suggested donations by grade. Please contact Elaine Shanahan at elaine.cassidy@comcast.net or 215-779-1538 by Friday. May 10 if you are planning on sending in a food or beverage donation.
KKids Carnival - Monday, May 20
Please see the attached flyers for information on purchasing game, tickets for the KKIDS Carnival during recess on May 20th and volunteering at the event. This is a tradition at McKinley and the students have a great time.
Barnes and Noble Book Fair - Wednesday, May 22
Save the Date! Our next Barnes & Noble Book Fair will be held at the Willow Grove store on Wednesday, May 22 from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm. We'll be featuring a book raffle, scavenger hunt, art show, McKinley Dragon Frappuccino, and more! If you can't make it Barnes & Noble on the night of the book fair, stay tuned for details on how you can support McKinley with an online purchase. Hope to see you there!
Thank A Teacher!
Are you looking for a special way to thank your child's teacher for a great year at McKinley? Consider donating a book to our school library! Books are selected by our librarian, Miss Strohecker. A commemorative bookplate will be placed in each book noting the staff member and family making the donation, and the books will be added to the McKinley Library as a lasting remembrance. They will also be featured in a special book display in the library. To donate a book in honor of a teacher or staff member, please complete the attached form and return it to the library by Friday, May 17th. Thank you.

Spring Fair - Beverage Donations & Volunteers Needed
We need your help! If you can, please consider donating canned sodas, water bottles and Capri Sun Juices or similar. Please drop off bevearges in the school lobby near the PTO mailbox and put a note on the items indicating "FOR SPRING FAIR" by May 3. We appreciate all your help - anything not sold at Fair will be given to 6th Grade Committee for the Graduation reception.
Please use the attached link to signup for a 45 minute shift at the Spring Fair on May 17. The earliest shifts start at 3:45pm and the Fair ends at 7:30pm:
Field Day Volunteers
McKinley needs field day helpers to help give out water and hand out popsicles at Field Day on May 17. All volunteers must have district clearances. If you are interested in helping, please sign up by clicking on the link below.
