The garden is such a great resource for the McKinley community.

We need volunteers to help maintain the garden; as well as volunteers for recess visits! The kids love to visit and hang out in the garden.

Garden clean up: Sun Nov 2nd, 10a-1p: We'll continue preparing the garden for cooler temperatures and laying mulch. Mulch will be delivered and we need help to get it cleared from the black top! Please RSVP if you are able to join us. As always, do not feel like you need to be available the entire time. Any amount of time you are able to give is helpful and appreciated! Clean up dates are open to all McKinley families and community members. If you have an older student looking to fulfill their service learning log, helping in the garden can count!

Next up is our first fundraising event! We are holding a Pretzel/Bake Sale on election day, Tuesday, November 4, 2025, 8a-4p. Our big goal is to replace the very heavily damaged tables and benches in the garden. We would like to be able to replace them with recycled plastic, which will last a long time with little maintenance, but are also costly. This is where our community support and fundraising comes into play! We are accepting donations of pre-packaged, individually wrapped items for our sale. Items can be dropped off in the school lobby on Monday, 11/3 and Tuesday, 11/4 during school hours. We also need help staffing the sale on 11/4 from 8a-4p. 1 hour volunteer shifts are available. Please sign up here if you are able to donate pre-packaged goods or volunteer your time. Recess Visits: We've had such great turnout that we've added two additional recess visit dates, November 12th and 19th. If you are interested in volunteering to help make these visits possible, please sign up here: November recess visits. A couple of spots are still available for next week, Oct. 29th.
